Dad, what is it that you want me to do today?

The prodigal son thought that his inheritance was in his fathers money. As Jesus shows us in the gospel, it was in his father's love. As Noah showed us a father, a righteous man, building an Ark in obedience to God (a father in obedience to his Heavenly Father), his sons show us a society of men (united as one), righteous in their own eyes, building a tower in indifference to God (in defiance to their Heavenly Father).
It is the prodigal son's father and Noah who show us a father's authority. It is the world before and after the flood (as in the days of Noah, as the prodigal son on his own), in the imagination of their deceitful and wicked hearts, which shows a society of men, united as one in their pursuit of the pleasures of this life, rejecting the preaching and teaching of God's word as is (as revealed by God alone) but instead dialoguing their opinions (how they "feel" and what they "think") to a consensus, to a "feeling" of "oneness" (to make a name for themselves, established upon "the approval of men," with men seeking to be "affirmed" by men), thinking and acting not only in indifference to the Father but also in defiance to the Father's authority.
The Antichrist (the spirit of Antichrist) being a Fatherless Christ, a "Christ" of the flesh, a "Christ" of, in harmony with, and augmenting of "human nature," 'justifying' himself and being justified by men through "human reasoning,'" thinking and acting in defiance to God the Father, the only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit (who are holy, pure, and righteous in and of Himself alone), a "Christ" of Satan's own making, i.e. made in his own image, is a "Christ" who will be (is) adored by carnal man as God, revered by men as their savior and lord, "redeeming" them from the Father's authority, "reconciling" them to the world. This is the only pathway which "human reasoning," dialectic 'reasoning,' can lead man, i.e. lead those who reject the Words of our Heavenly Father, and therefore have to reject His chastening.
Dying daily to yourself means that you must, first thing in the morning, put aside your carnal desires (admitting to God, to your Heavenly Father, that you can not do it in and of yourself), asking your Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son—the Lamb of God, whose blood covers your sins—to direct your steps, asking Him what it is that He wants you to do today, telling him to chasten you when you disobey, for your souls sake.
