Resurrection.
It changed everything.

Not diminishing the importance of the cross, i.e., of Christ Jesus, in obedience to his Heavenly Father dying on the cross, 'redeeming' us from damnation, i.e., from the lake of fire that is never quenched by shedding his blood on the cross for our sins, it is the resurrection that fulfilled the Father's plan for us, 'reconciling' us to His self to spend eternity with Him, partaking in His Holiness. The world, seeing it through humanistic eyes, can only perceive the crucifixion as someone fighting against the establishment, dying for "the people," but it can not comprehend (accept) the resurrection, where not only are the 'redeemed' 'reconciled' to the Father, but all who are not in Christ, refusing to repent for their sins ('justifying' their "self" before men instead) will spend eternity in the lake of fire that is never quenched.

The Heavenly Father raised His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ from the grave, that we might spend eternity with Him in His Holiness instead of in the lake of fire that is never quenched. On the day of judgment that is the only choice you will have made that has lasting value. If you reject the resurrection, making the Lord someone who simply suffered and died for the "goodness" of man, then your next breath, which is a gift from God, will only be taken in vain, i.e., for the pleasures of the 'moment,' which have no lasting value, being unable to save you from damnation after your last breath.

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works." Matthew 16:24-27

"Because that, when they knew God [the creation bearing witness of Him, i.e., of His power and greatness, along with man's ability to be in awe (aware) of it, i.e., in awe (aware) of His works and therefore in awe (aware) of Him], they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools," "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;" "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Romans 1:21, 22, 28, 32

"And for this cause [because men, as "children of disobedience," 'justify' themselves, i.e., their love of "self" and the world, i.e., their love of the pleasures of the 'moment' over and therefore against the Father's authority] God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie [that pleasure is the standard for "good" instead of doing the Father's will]: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth [in the Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ], but had pleasure in unrighteousness [in their "self" and the pleasures of the 'moment,' which the world stimulates]." 2 Thessalonians 2:11, 12
